The supremely soft pile of the Ivory Bamboo Shag Rug has a creamy ivory color and a natural sheen similar to cashmere or silk. This contemporary area rug is timeless, retro, and modern all at the same time. However, there's nothing retro about the materials used to make it. This rectangle area rug is machine-made from an 80% bamboo fiber/20% cotton blend. The backing is made of 100% cotton canvas with natural latex. The lush, dense pile consists of 2,550 grams of fiber per square meter for superior heft and a plush look and feel. The rug is actually softer and silkier than traditional shag rugs made from wool, cotton, or synthetic fibers.
The Ivory Bamboo Shag Rug and its manufacturing process are both ecologically friendly. Beginning with the material, bamboo is a sustainable resource that grows naturally without the need for pesticides or fertilizers due to an inherent, naturally-occurring antifungal, antibacterial agent called "Bamboo Kun." Once the bamboo fibers are spun into yarn, they are hypoallergenic, which especially benefits those with sensitive respiratory and skin conditions. The bamboo/cotton blend is also naturally anti-bacterial and antimicrobial, which tes a healthy home environment. This rug is colored using Azo-free dye, which is non-toxic and friendly to the environment.
Why this rug is made with Azo-free dye: Azo dyes and pigments are commonly used to color textiles and plastics. Some of the by-products, such as chlorinated aromatic amines, are toxic and may be potential carcinogens. After moving from a home with carpet to a new home with a wood floor in the master bedroom we made a very extensive search to find the right rug. Almost no rugs are white because white stains too easily. Almost every rug we looked at in "cream" or "ivory" had a color tint half way between white and yellow which just would not work in master bedroom which is somewhere between kaki / beige with a slight hint of olive. We looked at several rugs in wool many of which were twice the price as we wanted something that was natural not synthetic nylon.The Anji Mountain product only had a few reviews all of which were positive. It had a playful shag texture similar to a wool rug at Room & Board that we liked but thought was too yellow. Ordering a Rug for $700 without ever seeing or feeling it scared me but one of the other review mentioned that an E-mail to Anji Mountian customer service is all that was necessary to obtain a free swatch. I sent and E-mail and under a week later a two inch square confirmed the Anji Mountain was a neutral off white and not the warm almost yellow color we wanted to avoid. The bamboo - cotton fiber is soft. The rug looks and feels great and unlike wool it does not shed.We have since bought a second Anji rug in 3x5 for the master bathroom. Our kids like the "worm like" shag. After a small cut resulted in a few drops of blood falling on the rug an immediate spot cleaning with Club Soda and Woolite cleaned it completely with no permanent stains. This is an excellent product at a reasonable price that I highly recommend.

Beautiful shag rug that really brightens our living room. We have it on a rug pad (required). Our puppy loves to sit on it andso far so good. No loose pieces and nice texture and color that would probably hide dirt and stains well.

Surprisingly yes! I suppose because its 20% cotton that may help, but this rug feels great under your feet. Its sturdy, fashionable and feels good. Its a shag rug as advertised so expect thick strands (my girlfriend says they looks like worms, but I love them) and the pictures provided here are fairly accurate of what it looks like on your floor. For the price, this is a quality rug.
